FANCOMIC!
Fan art time.
I did this Supermutant Magic Academy comic because I’m excited for the Drawn & Quarterly book (coming out in 2015, apparently)! And also to let everyone know this is mandatory comics reading. Why aren’t you reading this comic? Jillian Tamaki is doing something really special here.
Yes, that’s watercolor. I don’t usually use it, and certainly not this way (scanned and overlayed in Photoshop) - but it works.
Bake Sale
Even though I have never had a “regular posting schedule”, I apologize for the lack of updates lately. I’m finishing up a graphic novel (Awago Beach, 2014).
Drawn and Quarterly made it official this weekend at TCAF: there is going to be a SuperMutant Magic Academy book! Spring 2015. NICE!
Above: hand-delivered fan art from Lauren Zukauskas who visited me at MoCCA!
Got some questions about leftover minicomics. YES, there were leftovers. I’ve sent them to various comic shops to sell; unfortunately I don’t have the time in my schedule right now to sell them online. Sorry and thanks for understanding.
The shops are: The Beguiling (Toronto), Secret Headquarters (LA), Librairie Drawn + Quarterly (Montreal), GOSH! Comics (London, UK), and Desert Island (Brooklyn).
I sent them out this week; they should be at the various places soon.
My MoCCA Schedule, deluxe edition:
First off, MutantMagic zines (includes 3 new comics and risograph cover) and posters will be available at the Society of Illustrators table, which I believe is called the “Museum Shop”.
There’s going to be a section of the Armory called “The Gallery”. Some of my work will be in there too.
SIGNINGS: 2-3 both Saturday and Sunday, at the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund table.
TALK: On Sunday, I will be in discussion with Ryan Sands, he of the Thickness anthology and the upcoming Youth In Decline. This will take place in the Programming Room on the Lower Level. Other programming here.
My Twitter is here for more MoCCA minutiae.
