Yes! There will be a book of collected MutantMagic strips. But not for a while. Why? Because first I have to make another book. It’s a graphic novel that I’m doing with my cousin Mariko, with whom I did SKIM. The new book is called Awago Beach Babies. It’s nothing like this webcomic, but here’s a picture anyway:
[Awago will be out in Spring 2014. More info’s here.]
So yes, I am working on this other book ‘round the clock and publishing schedules dictate that there’s gotta be some time between. Which is sensical. Also, I want to do more strips that will appear exclusively in the book so it’ll be extra juicy.
Anyway, there will be some SMMA book news soonish. In the meantime, I’m making a special minicomic for MoCCA. Come see me there, if you’re around!
NEWS! MutantMagic, your friendly neighbourhood webcomic, has been nominated for another award. Slate’s first annual Cartoonist Studio Prize! Thanks Slate, and thanks in particular to Françoise Mouly, who has been very kind to me and the MutantMagic kids.
SuperMutant Magic Academy got an honorable mention nod in this year’s edition of Best American Comics, edited by Francoise Mouly. Here are Marsha and Wendy participating in the introduction page. Click to enlarge.

Dear Sirs and Madams,
This webcomic was nominated for an Ignatz! *Pret-ty* cool! You can vote for the Ignatz winners if you attend the SPX comics festival in Bethesda, Maryland.
The Ignatz Awards, named for the character in the classic comic strip Krazy Kat by George Herriman, is a festival prize that recognizes outstanding achievement in comics and cartooning. The ballot is created by a panel of five cartoonists and is voted on by the attendees of the SPX festival. …
