Hi guys,

SuperMutant Magic Academy was a webcomic that I posted here between 2010 and 2014. A book, which collected all of the strips that appear here, plus new strips, plus a 40-page concluding story, came out earlier this year. To everyone who supported this project, bought a book, or came out to events on the tour, THANKS!

I am going to stop posting on this tumblr! You can follow my illustration and comic work on my other tumblr (jilliantamaki). If you liked this, maybe you’ll like that, etc.

Other places to follow: twitter (@dirtbagg), an Instagram I have not posted anything at (@jilliantamaki) and an old-timey blog (blog.jilliantamaki.com).

I will leave this site up too. Catch you on the flipside—–

An interview with the always-thoughtful Annie Mok.

heyanniemok:

I interviewed my literal hero, Jillian Tamaki, for The Hairpin. We talk about D&Q’s new collection of her SuperMutant Magic Academy webcomic, for which she’s now touring. Just after I wrote the questions I also got in the mail her Frontier #7 story “SexCoven” from Youth In Decline, which I loved too. This woman!! I can’t even. Except I had to, even, to ask her questions.

Hey! In addition to the SuperMutant Magic Academy book, this lil thing will also come out this month. It’s a 32 page standalone story. Maybe you will like it?! Info below?? <3

[Also, the “soup enthusiast” part of this blurb refers to this ONE TIME I left Ryan alone at a convention table because I went and ate some soup.]

youthindecline:

Frontier #7: Jillian Tamaki is back from the printers, and it looks amazing!!!

Our first issue of the year features a brand new comic by the talented cartoonist and illustrator, Jillian Tamaki. Frontier #7 features the story “SexCoven” which revolves around IRL and online relationships, the seductive and secret world of early internet file-sharing, and life inside a commune (cult?). 32 pages, full-color. For Mature Readers Only

The book is:

Jillian Tamaki is an award winning cartoonist and illustrator. She is the co-author with her cousin Mariko Tamaki of the award-winning graphic novels “This One Summer” and “Skim”, and the author of the forthcoming “SuperMutant Magic Academy” from Drawn & Quarterly. A noted soup enthusiast, Jillian has written and storyboarded two episodes of the show “Adventure Time” and created many lovely zines and minicomics.
